iPhone: Amplitube and AmpKit

I did a short recording using my iPhone as an amp modelling device. One of the guitars and the bass guitar are run though amplitube (free) and the other through peavey amp kit (free). The drums are from the loopmasters combination refill and the piano bit is sequenced. No external effects on the guitar/bass parts.
NB: I did not record the track using the iPhone, I just used the iPhone as a guitar amp sim.

Moog Filtatron

The new Moog Filtatron app is now available in the appstore.
Filtatron is a replica of the famous Moog ladder filter that can be found in most of their legendary synthesizers.
Along with the filter the Filtatron also offers an oscillator, LFO, sampler, delay and overdrive.
Ideal for mangeling live audio or creating your own sounds using the on-board oscillator, the filtatron can be used in may creative ways.

I found the Moog filtatron app fun and extremely easy to use.
The sound of the filters and VCO are brilliant, it's hard to replicate analog hardware exactly but for an app running your phone it's very close.
It's cheap too, for just £2.99 you can own your very own moog filter.
Combine that with the Amplitube iRig adapter and you have yourself a portable, analog modeled filter and effects unit.

Overall I'm very pleased with the filtron.
It sounds nice, looks good and fits neatly into your pocket.
Go buy it, It's well worth the £2.99 price tag.



Below I've made a quick track using only the moog filtatron app. The sounds were quickly mixed and I added a small amount of compression. Enjoy.
