News and stuff. =]

The first piece of news that I have for you is that I’ve moved the main Samples and loops link page from Tumblr to this Blogger page. It makes more sense that I list them on here considering that all the samples and loops are all hosted here.

If someone is linked to a sample pack from another blog or forum then they might not know about the rest of the sample packs. The link will help to point them in the right direction of more free stuff.

You’ll find a tab to your right that reads ‘Free Samples and Loops’. Click the link and it will take you to a separate page on blogger that has a complete list of previous sample packs that I’ve released on this blog.

I’ll still be updating the Tumblr list along with the new one on Blogger, mainly because I know of quite a lot of sites and forums are currently linking to that list. However, I’ll not be linking to the Tumblr sample page from Twitter any more, I’ll link to the new Blogger one.

Also I’d like to inform you all that I’ve started work on the third SKatterBrain album so I might be looking for remixers in the near future. Keep checking back for updates on this.

Free hand played percussion loops

This pack contains 10 hand played percussion loops in .Wav format.
I'm not saying I'm the best percussionist in the world but I played these percussion loops myself.
These loops are an ideal way to give your track a little bit of human feeling.

All loops are played at 120 bpm.

AudioRealism has released their TechnoBox 2 iPhone app.

Techno box has to be the best app in the AppStore if you're looking for an authentic TB-303 emulator.







Version 2 of the app comes with quite a few new features and performance upgrades.

Most notable being the ability to have two TB-303s and two drum machines running at the same time. This gives you a lot more creativity when creating songs or patterns.

The 303 emulator itself has been updated too; now running on AudioRealism's latest engine which improves Authenticity of that classic acid sound.

The new version of the app also includes audio exporting through iTunes and the ability to upload recorded songs/patterns straight to your Soundcloud account.

Fancy using your own drum samples instead the same old 808 and 909 sounds? Now you can import your own .wav samples via the iTunes file sharing feature.

The TB-303 acid sound is all about the knob tweaking! Now TechnoBox 2 has a performance page where all the knobs are in one place. Having everything together like this is a real help when getting creative with the app.

There's also an improved FX section. The phaser can now be synced to the tempo, there is a damp parameter on the delay and you can now apply filtering to your drum machines.







It's a pity that this update costs £2.99. After paying for this app once I was at least expecting a discount for us existing users rather than having to buy it out right again.

But this is still a great app even if I had to re-buy it. It's great fun to play around with and with it's authentic sound it's well worth the money.

Synthetic Bits updates FunkBox Drum Machine to version 2.0.

FunkBox Drum Machine has to be one of my all time favourite iPhone music apps and now this new feature brings a whole new set of features to the table.

The app now boasts new and improved graphics and GUI that are more crisp thanks to Retina support.

The samples are also clearer which means an improved audio quality for all you audiophiles out there.

There’s also two brand new drum machines added to the line up; the LinnDrum LM-2 and the Roland TR-77 brings a whole new set of sounds to the table.

You can now also alter the pitch of any of the drum sounds in FunkBox along with the start and end point of the samples making the drum sounds completely customisable.

One of my favourite new features has to be the import feature. The ability to import your own samples makes this great app even more fun to play around with (Looking for samples to play around with? Check out some of the samples on my blog).

I was confused about how to add samples to the app at first but a quick message to Synthetic Bits via Twitter solved the problem.

Here's how it's done: In iTunes click on your device and then the apps tab at the top of the page. Scroll down to the bottom and you’ll find the ‘File Sharing’ option. Click the add button and locate the samples you wish to import. Re-Sync your device and then all the sounds should be on your device.

When all of the samples are on your device, load up the FunkBox app and go to the import page. Select the files that you wish to use and click import. It’s as simple as that.

Also Synthetic Bits has also added the ability to save your own custom Drum Box configurations and pattern banks. Having the ability to store more patterns is a real help to us beat programmers.

Other features which make this 2.0 update amazing are: Tap Tempo, the ability to pan individual instruments, MIDI in/out and more presets!
